Martin Luther King Returns to Phila. Miss. Photographer Matt Herron is pursued by sheriff's deputy as he steps out of march line to take a picture. Philadelphia, Mississippi © 1976 Bob Fitch/Take Stock / The Image WorksRenowned Civil Rights photographer Matt Herron’s Take Stock collection will now be available exclusively through The Image Works.  Herron’s collection features historic stock photography of the civil rights movement, its leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, and Cesar Chavez’ Migrant Farm Workers Movement.

The Take Stock collection is comprised of photographs of photojournalists who were often passionate supporters of the movements they documented.  George Ballis, Bob Fitch, Matt Herron, Ernest Lowe, Ivan Massar, Art Rogers and Maria Varela are the artists behind this important collection.  Social action remains a passion for Herron.  “Take Stock is about supporting the work of these photographers, many who still carry on social action.” said Herron.  “I want to keep alive the history of these important social movements. I have always been a socially motivated photographer.”
The Take Stock collection adds additional editorial depth to The Image Works stable of contributing photographers, affiliated agencies, museums and newspapers.
